I have worked with multiple families, mainly was casual work and babysitting. I have taken care of children of all ages, from month old babies up to young teenagers. I am able to prepare and cook meals, complete housework, manage homework along with school and activity drop offs and pick ups. For majority of the families, I have looked after their children for over the past 5 years, some a little longer. I have also grown up with three younger sisters and from that is where my passion came from for working with children. When my parents have been away on business I have been capable in managing the younger two, ie get them to school and activities along with completing what I have mentioned above.
I am from England but now living in New Zealand for a minimum of one year, most likely two! I'm a friendly, calm, independent, happy person with a can do attitude. My goal is to ensure each child is happy and healthy. I believe that children need a lot of play time, social interaction and mental stimulation. I hope to work for a family that believe that same. Bringing children up in this way, is the most rewarding job I could ask for! I also adore animals, should you have any. I have experience working with children at Kelly Club, a before / afterschool and holiday care programme for primary school children. As apart of my role at Kelly Club I ran cooking, craft, sports and general playing activities. I quickly learned about what did and didn’t work with all of the individual children. For example with disputes, some children responded positively to affection and calming words whereas other just needed to be redirected to a new activity. I believe I would be a good fit for this opportunity for many reasons. I enjoy looking after children as they are fun to be with, engaging, and each day is a new experience. I am an energetic, reliable, and loving person who works well with children as I am able to be both fun and firm. I can easily cope and diffuse any conflict or behavioural issues as I come from a large family that used to foster young children.
